Brown Beach House Hotel & Spa Trogir Croatia

This boutique design hotel, set in a walled garden with a pool looking out on to the sea, has a sophisticated yet unpretentious feel, offering a stylish and laid-back retreat for exploring the Dalmatian coast.

Set a 10-minute walk from Trogir's medieval old town, with its magnificent Unesco-listed Romanesque cathedral, the hotel is on a busy road overlooking the narrow sea channel between ÄŒiovo and the mainland. It's 19 miles (30 km) from main part of Split, but just three miles (5.5 km) from Split airport.
Effortlessly cool, the boutique hotel occupies a former 20th century tobacco warehouse. The building's original details, such as the structure's elegant curved beams, have been combined with hip, contemporary furnishings to create a stylish but laid-back atmosphere. Its cosy lounge, furnished with mismatched chairs, features parquet flooring, ceiling fans, potted palms and five sea view windows.
Staff are young and welcoming, and can arrange private excursions (such as one-day sailing trips, wine tastings) and speedboat transfers. Guests have complimentary access to the hotel's bicycles, as well as an impressive library (stocked with design and photography books), a billiards table and old-fashioned games (dominos and pick-up sticks) in the lounge area.
Looking out onto the sea is a black-and-white chequered tile pool, rimmed by sunbeds and white parasols. Table tennis and table football are also available outdoors.

There are six double rooms and 19 suites (one or two bedrooms). All are spacious with lots of natural light, wood flooring with silvery blue banana silk rugs, extremely comfortable beds (double or twin), as well as a kettle and espresso machine for making tea and coffee.

Their spotless bathrooms have grey marble tiles and a bathtub. Suites have an additional living room with two sofas and a coffee table.
Breakfast is served on the terrace of the Cartina restaurant, offering fresh juices (carrot, apple or orange), platters of cheeses and salamis, and baskets of buttery croissants as well as made-to-order dishes such as eggs royale. The all-day restaurant serves Mediterranean dishes, such as sea bass carpaccio and fresh lobster, prepared with summery herbs and fragrant spices.
The hotel's cool and breezy bar, enclosed by windows on three sides, allowing for lots of natural light, stocks Cuban cigars.
