Stara Baska (Old Baska) lies on the SW coast of the island of Krk, a 10 kilometers south of Punat. It is a quiet small fishing village above a pebbly beach. Its greatest value lies in the unspoiled nature, peace and quietness and terraced gromace and stone-built sheep folds, its stone desert and cliffs, the habitat for medicinal and aromatic herbs. And one curiosity: main street in Stara Baska is so narrow that two cars can hardly pass each other, but there are marked pedestrian crossings every 100 m!Pebble beach of Stara Baska is incredibly beautiful. Most of the visitors come from Punat or Baska by foot or by car, and some by boats. If coming by car, you have to park above the beach and go by foot on a steep path to reach the beach. It is a great beach for anyone seeking unspoiled nature and not having loud bars and shops nearby. If you really want to get away from it all, park the car on the hilltop outside Stara Baska and walk down the steep cliffs to the deserted coves below where you can sunbathe in relative solitude and cool off in the sea. Remember to take your walking shoes, a picnic and deep breaths. It’s not for the unfit.
